Congratulations to Anh Tuyet Vu Chuong!

A 2022 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Nursing, Tuyet Chuong began her career as a Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit nurse at UVA Medical Center. In this high‑acuity environment, her colleagues consistently noted both her clinical skill and the values she demonstrated in caring for patients and supporting fellow nurses. One former STICU colleague shared, “Tuyet is an excellent colleague. I could always count on her. In a high‑acuity environment like the STICU, Tuyet is a magnetic force—composed, yet vigilant—able to seamlessly adapt to any critical event. Any unit would be lucky to have her on their team.”

In addition to her bedside practice, Tuyet oversaw unit well‑being efforts and code and infusion initiatives to support patient safety and team resilience. Her commitment to excellent care extends beyond clinical practice into research, where her work reflects a desire to improve outcomes and create pathways for others to do the same. Her research interests include global health, ICU delirium prediction models, and neuroprotection and neuroinflammatory processes.

Tuyet’s leadership and service are also reflected in her extensive community involvement. She serves as an advocate for nursing education through the Virginia Nurses Association Commission on Nursing Education, is president of the Piedmont Chapter of the Virginia Nurses Association, and volunteers as a 911 responder with the Charlottesville‑Albemarle Rescue Squad. She is also a CPR and Stop the Bleed instructor, executive chair for the Virginia Ambassadors, co‑president of the Student Nurses’ Association of Virginia, and a former student leader of UVA’s Compassionate Care Initiative.

Her nominator captured her impact: “Her contributions represent a rare combination of clinical mastery and leadership not seen in many nurses. She has demonstrated outstanding commitment to elevating the nursing profession and represents the UVA School of Nursing’s highest standards in research, leadership, and service.”
