Congratulations to Victoria Tiase!

A 1995 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Nursing, Dr. Victoria L. Tiase is a nurse informaticist and assistant professor of biomedical informatics and nursing at the University of Utah. She also serves as co‑director of Utah’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Biomedical Informatics Core and as president of the Utah Nursing Informatics Network.

Dr. Tiase’s national leadership includes service on the boards of the Alliance for Nursing Informatics, AMIA, and Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research, as well as editorial board appointments with JAMIA and npj Health Systems. She was appointed as the informatics expert to the National Academy of Medicine’s Future of Nursing 2030 Committee, where she helped envision how nurses can use technology to address health disparities and strengthen community health.

Her career spans roles ranging from leading electronic health record implementations to mentoring digital health startups. Her nominator described Dr. Tiase as “dedicated to pioneering new models of care that integrate data, technology, and other innovative digital health solutions to create healthcare efficiencies and influence policy,” noting that her research and funded projects consistently address disparities in care. These efforts include telemedicine initiatives for patients with limited English proficiency, nurse‑driven decision support to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing, and expanding digital access to physical therapy for underserved populations. Her current research focuses on mitigating burnout and improving systems and policies through computational workload modeling to help create a resilient and thriving nursing workforce.

Her nominator summarized her impact succinctly: “Overall, Dr. Vicky Tiase has contributed substantially to the advancement of nursing science and practice and provides a tremendous legacy for UVA Nursing.”
