Each year, the University of Virginia School of Nursing Alumni Council honors two remarkable alumni

whose accomplishments and promise place them as leaders in the profession. The Distinguished Alumni Award and the Decade Award are selected by committee through a highly competitive nomination process.

The Distinguished Alumni Award is given to a graduate who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to the profession of nursing through teaching, leadership, research, clinical practice, and service. This year’s recipient, Dr. Victoria Tiase, has built an extraordinary career marked by innovation, impact, and integrity, reflecting the far‑reaching influence of nursing well beyond the classroom or bedside.

The Decade Award honors an alumna from the last 10 years who is actively engaged in nursing practice and demonstrates promise for an exceptional future in the profession. This year’s recipient, Anh Tuyet Vu Chuong, exemplifies nursing excellence through clinical care, research, leadership, and service.
